Star Wars: The Force Awakens breaks record for biggest single day in UK box office history.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 previously held the record for the biggest opening-day at the UK box office with £9.5 million.
Not only did the JJ Abrams sci-fi have the biggest opening of all time yesterday (December 17), but it was also the biggest single day in UK industry history.
Disney has announced that the movie brought in £9.6 million in the UK, with midnight screenings contributing £2.4m to the total.
