Joss Whedon has confirmed what most assumed for some time; that he will be doing no more work for Marvel Studios.
It was fairly clear that the filmmaker was burned out after his work on Avengers: Age of Ultron, and – speaking at the Oxford Union – he revealed why he won’t be directing or even consulting on any future projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“You know, I was their sort of consigliere for a while. I sort of had my finger in all of the films in the second phase, but then I just had to concentrate only on Ultron, and sort of know when it was done I was just going to stop.”
Whedon is now focusing his new comic book miniseries at Dark Horse Comics.
The writer described the star of his new series Twist as a “Victorian, female Batman” when announcing the title at San Diego Comic-Con. Twist’s release date is yet to be announced.
