Review: Torchwood One – Before the Fall

Review by Doctor Squee (Host of Gallifrey Stands Podcast)

If you had told me a few years back I would be looking forward to a Torchwood Big Finish release as much as a Doctor Who, I wouldn’t have believed it. Sure the TV show was great; but it’s always Doctor Who first. But Big Finish have done such an amazing job with the Torchwood range as to make it up there with their finest Doctor Who releases.978-1-78703-008-4-1 Continue reading

Review: Torchwood – Outbreak

Review by Doctor Squee (Host of Gallifrey Stands Podcast)

When The Torchwood Archive was released I was happy. It was a good feature-length story that brought in all incarnations of Torchwood from it’s timeline together in one story. But it was lacking in giving us a full team Torchwood adventure; jumping around time as it did and mainly focusing on a few characters at a time.

This isn’t to slate that great story mind; but I am glad we now have Torchwood: Outbreak as well.

Review: The Torchwood Archive

Review by Doctor Squee (Host of Gallifrey Stands Podcast)

The 21st Century is where everything changes and Big Finish are ready.
When Big Finish brought back Torchwood in audio form, it was a stunning success. 1-hour standalone stories that concentrated on a different member of the team. Imaginative, entertaining and totally in keeping in the legacy of the BBC Three classic show.

So when they announced they were going to do a 2-hour special featuring all your favourite Torchwood characters (bar Owen) from both the original TV run and characters they had invented just for the audios for celebrate Torchwood turning 10; I was SO in!978-1-78575-423-4-1 Continue reading

Big Finish Review: Torchwood – Broken/Made You Look

Review by Doctor Squee (Head Reviewer & Host of Gallifrey Stands Podcast)

Time for a round-up of the latest Big Finish Torchwood releases and my first review since Indie Mac User became an official reviewer for Big Finish (fanfare and bunting released!).

First up we have the long awaited Broken. Exploring the gap between Ianto saying goodbye to his Cyber girlfriend and really stepping into the thick of the action as a full member of the Torchwood team. In a recent panel hosted by yours truly, I got to ask Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto himself) about this adventure…

‘That’s a question quite a lot of fans ask, what happens between Yanto hiding a cyberwoman in the basement and suddenly being promoted to a fully-fledged member of the team. That sort of arc wasn’t really investigated in the show but this is an audio piece that really delves into that and answers a lot of question the fans might have had.’
