According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO Max/Warner Bros are in early development on a possible live-action TV series set in the world of Harry Potter.

Sources say that executives at HBO MAX have engaged in multiple conversations with potential writers exploring various ideas that would bring the beloved property to television and very wide-ranging ideas have been discussed as part of the early-stage exploratory discussions.

Expanding the world of Harry Potter remains a top priority for HBO Max and Warner Bros., which along with creator J.K. Rowling, controls rights to the property. Harry Potter is one of Warners’ most valuable pieces of IP. The franchise has recently suffered from an online backlash against creator J.K. Rowling and  Mads Mikkelsen replacing Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts 3.
