English stunt performer and actor Roy Scammell has died aged 88.

Scammell was a stunt coordinator in the 1979 film Alien. He also portrayed the Alien in Alien in the scene where it is ejected from the shuttle at the end of the film, although he was not credited for this role.

Other notable films he appeared in included The Dirty Dozen (1967), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Flash Gordon (1980) and several films in the James Bond series.

Scammell appeared on several TV shows including Doctor Who.

He appeared in several stories as either an actor or stunt arranger including The Ambassadors of Death, Inferno, Terror of the Autons & The Mind of Evil.
