Jennifer Carpenter returning for ‘Dexter’ revival

Jennifer Carpenter is set to return for the Dexter limited series revival at Showtime, a source close to the production confirmed to Variety.

Carpenter played Deb Morgan in the original series. Carpenter’s character is the adopted sister of Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan, and was famously killed in the show’s series finale.


Showtime declined to comment on the casting.

“Set 10 years after Dexter Morgan went missing in the eye of Hurricane Laura, the revival sees the character now living under an assumed name in a world away from Miami.”

Michael C. Hall is joined by Julia JonesAlano MillerJohnny SequoyahJack Alcott and Clancy Brown in the 10-episode limited series.

John Lithgows set to make an appearance as the “Trinity Killer”.


The original series, which ran from 2008-13 and remains one of Showtime’s signature dramas, followed Dexter Morgan (Hall), who was a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami Police Department but moonlighted as a serial killer.

Hall returns for the limited series revival along with showrunner Clyde Phillips. The two executive produce with John GoldwynSara ColletonBill CarraroScott Reynolds, and Marcos Siega.
