‘Sherlock’ actress Una Stubbs passes away aged 84

The BBC is reporting that Actress Una Stubbs, known for her roles in TV shows like Worzel Gummidge, Till Death Us Do Part, BBC’s Sherlock and EastEnders, has died at the age of 84.

Stubbs found fame in the 1960s, appearing in films like Sir Cliff Richard’s Summer Holiday, and remained one of the UK’s best-loved screen stars.

In the BBC’s ‘Sherlock’ series produced by Mark Gatiss & Steven Moffat she gave a fan favourite performance as Mrs Hudson – the erstwhile landlady and housekeeper for Holmes & Watson (as played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman).

Showrunner’s Gatiss & Moffat and co-star Benedict Cumberbatch have shared tributes to the Actress.

She also appeared in the Doctor Who audio drama ‘The Horror of Glam Rock‘ for Big Finish Productions.

Her agent said she died at her home in Edinburgh surrounded by her family. The  actress had been ill for a few months, the agent told BBC News.
