The coronavirus pandemic saw most major in-person events get either cancelled or delayed back in 2020, which resulted in Blumhouse Productions delivering their first virtual BlumFest, a celebration which has returned this year again in virtual form bringing with it “surprises and sneak peeks” of many of their upcoming projects.

Jason Blum hopes BlumFest 2022 will be an in-person event.

BlumFest, the annual event for Blumhouse fans, returns virtually for a second year in celebration of the company’s favorite holiday, Halloween.

This year’s event will feature conversations with filmmakers and actors from upcoming Blumhouse films and television series, with plenty of surprises and sneak peeks for fans.

We are making BlumFest even bigger this year by giving away some crazy sh*t! If you’re feeling lucky, you may have a chance to win prizes like: movie tickets, one-of-a-kind autographed merch, and maybe the chance to pitch your movie or TV idea to a couple of VIPs.

• In her broadcast debut, two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger will headline and executive produce limited series The Thing About Pam.Based on a true-crime phenomenon, the real-life, stranger-than-fiction story behind the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria that was featured on Dateline NBC, The Thing About Pam is a collaboration between Blumhouse Television, NBC News Studios and Zellweger’s Big Picture Co.

• Producers Tyler Perry and Jason Blum announced their first feature production together, the thriller entitled Help. Alan McElroy (Wrong Turn) is set to write and direct Help. Cameras will roll in Atlanta next year at the Tyler Perry Studios.

• John Logan’s feature directorial debut, the LGBTQIA+ horror film set at a gay conversion camp, will stream on Peacock. Quei Tann, Austin Crute, Anna Lore, Monique Kim, Cooper Koch, and Darwin del Fabro are joining already cast Kevin Bacon, Anna Chlumsky, Theo Germain and Carrie Preston.

• Netflix will adapt Stephen King’s latest novella, If It Bleeds. Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, adapted from a story from the author’s latest novella will star Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell.

In addition to BlumFest, today see the debut of the first two films in this year’s slate of “Welcome to the Blumhouse” programming for Amazon Prime Video. Bingo Hell and Black as Night will both be debuting on the streaming service.
