New image released from Jurassic World: Dominion

Jurassic World: Dominion is headed to the big screen on June 10 2022, and this weekend a brand new image from the franchise’s latest installment has been released by Empire Online.

The image features Giganotosaurus (aka “Giga”) below, which is actually based on a real dinosaur from real history. According to director Colin Trevorrow, it just wants to watch the world burn.

Trevorrow tells Empire…

“I wanted something that felt like the Joker. It just wants to watch the world burn.”

According to Wikipedia, the Giganotosaurus (in real life) was a “genus of theropod dinosaur that lived in what is now Argentina, during the early Cenomanian age of the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 99.6 to 97 million years ago.” The Wikipedia page also states, “Giganotosaurus was one of the largest known terrestrial carnivores.” This will be the first time the Giganotosaurus has appeared in the Jurassic movies

The film will be the conclusion to this Jurassic era as two generations unite for the first time. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by franchise favourites Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill.

From Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.

The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè. The screenplay is by Emily Carmichael (Battle at Big Rock) & Colin Trevorrow from a story by Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) & Trevorrow, based on characters created by Michael Crichton.

Jurassic World Dominion is produced by acclaimed franchise producers Frank Marshall p.g.a. and Patrick Crowley p.g.a. and is executive produced by legendary, Oscar®-winning franchise creator Steven Spielberg, Alexandra Derbyshire and Colin Trevorrow.
