During the Star Trek Universe Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday we got a first look at the previously announced epic reunion coming in the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard.
Executive producer Alex Kurtzman revealed character portraits for Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, LeVar Burton’s Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn’s Worf, Jonathan Frakes’ William Riker, Gates McFadden’s Dr. Beverly Crusher, and Marina Sirtis’ Deanna Troi alongside Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine and Michelle Hurd’s Raffi.
The third and final season of “Picard,” which the cast concluded filming this spring, will premiere in 2023.
In Star Trek: Picard, Stewart reprises his role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and follows the character into the next chapter of his life.
The panel also featured news about Star Trek: Lower Decks which is returning for its third season unveiled a trailer and character portraits teasing the third season of its return on Thursday, August 25 and new show Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
An episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 will welcome Newsome and Quaid’s animated characters from Lower Decks aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. We don’t know which episode just yet, but we know it will feature both live-action and animation, and it will be directed by Trek veteran Jonathan Frakes (Commander William Riker).
A premiere date for Strange New Worlds season 2 isn’t yet known, but this is the second surprise addition after it was revealed that Paul Wesley will be playing a younger version of Captain Kirk in the forthcoming episodes. Wesley made his debut as the character in the season 1 finale, which dropped on Paramount+ earlier this month.
