Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin is heading back to Gotham.
Tomlin is working alongside Matt Reeves to co-write The Batman 2, the follow-up to Reeves’ recent reboot of the Batman feature.
Tomlin worked on The Batman, coming in during the development when third act issues arose, although he did not receive screenwriting credit, which Reeves shared with Peter Craig.
The Batman grossed over $770 million against a $185–200 million budget, making it the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2022.
The Batman starred Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film sees Batman, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncover corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham’s elite.
The news of Tomlin’s involvement comes as Reeves signs a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
