Hugh Jackman to reprise role as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool 3’

Ryan Reynolds revealed today social media on that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as X-Men charecter Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3 which will bring both charecters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the Disney purchase of 20th Century Fox. Deadpool 3 is an upcoming American superhero film based upon the Marvel Comics character Deadpool. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, It is a spin-off in the X-Men film series, a sequel to 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2. Deadpool 3 is the first R-rated movie of Marvel Studios. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are set to write with Shawn Levy (Free Guy) on board to direct.

Australian actor Hugh Michael Jackman AC, began his career in theatre and television, he landed his breakthrough role as James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine in the 20th Century Fox X-Men film series (2000–2017), a role that earned him the Guinness World Record for “longest career as a live-action Marvel character”, until his record was surpassed in 2021.

In March 2022, Shawn Levy, who had previously worked with Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, was revealed as the film’s director, with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning to write the screenplay.

The future of the franchise was unclear in the wake of the Disney acquisition. Deadpool is now *officially* a Marvel Studios propertyBack in 2016, Deadpool scored big at the box office with a $782 million worldwide gross. The sequel in 2018 surpassed even that massive total, pulling in $785 million worldwide.

Deadpool 3 is set to release on Sept. 6, 2024
