New ‘Doctor Who’ companion announced

The BBC has revealed who will be the first companion to Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor in the hit sci-fi show Doctor Who which returns next year. It was recently announced that the new series will be available to view worldwide on Disney+. Check out the announcement below:

Millie Gibson (Coronation Street) has been announced as new companion ‘Ruby Sunday’.

Best known for her role as CORONATION STREET’s Kellie Neelan, 18 year old Millie was the recipient of the Best Young Performer Award at The British Soap Awards earlier this year. Millie has also appeared in dramas BUTTERFLY (ITV) and LOVE, LIES AND RECORDS (BBC).

Speaking of her new role, Millie Gibson said:

“Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honoured to be cast as the Doctor’s companion. It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.”

Ncuti Gatwa added: “Millie just is the companion. She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor. From the moment she walked into the room she captured all of our attention with her effervescence and then solidified that attention with the sheer torque of her talent. This adventure is going to be so wild and so fun, I cannot WAIT to sail the universe with Millie!”

Following The Power of The Doctor which saw Jodie Whittaker’s final episode as The Doctor – Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor regenerated into a familiar face and it has now been officially confirmed that David Tenant will be the Fourteenth Doctor.

Catherine Tate, Yasmin Finney and Bernard Cribbins have been announced to be featuring in scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations alongside Emmy and Tony-winning actor and comedian Neil Patrick Harris. The three special episodes will transmit in November 2023 as Doctor Who celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Lewis Capaldi, Graham Norton, Joe Wicks, Bradley Walsh and Diversity are among the stars taking part in this year’s Children in Need show. The annual BBC One charity night is raising funds for children and young people across the UK. Last year’s live show raised £39m.
