Winners announced: 2021 British Academy Cymru Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Wales, BAFTA Cymru, has announced the winners of the 30th British Academy Cymru Awards. The awards honour excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales and by the Welsh in UK productions, and serve to inspire the next generation of creative talent.

The 30th BAFTA Cymru Awards was hosted by Alex Jones, with 22 awards being presented throughout the evening. The ceremony was broadcast on BAFTA’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels and is available to watch here.

Review: Stephen King’s Mute

Mute is a 22 minute short film based upon a short story by author Stephen King, first published in Playboy Magazine in 2007 and included in his collection Just After Sunset (2008).

Written for the screen & directed by Kyle Dunbar. This latest King adaptation stars Andrew Bee (Monette), Christian Tribuzio (The Priest), Alexandre Stoupenkov (The Hitchhiker), Rebecca Callender (Kelsie Ann), Laura Shanter (Barbara), and Marvin Holland (Cowboy Bob).

Danny DeVito joins Disney’s Haunted Mansion remake

Disney is currently developing a new Haunted Mansion movie. The studio previously turned the ride into a movie in 2003 with a feature starring Eddie Murphy.

Review: We Need To Do Something (2021)

Natural disasters are never a fun event. Growing up in tornado country, I’ve had my fair share of severe thunderstorms, hail, and tornado watches and warnings. When I experienced a tornado, we had to huddle in the primary room in the house as there was no basement or cellar available. As the tornado ripped past our cottage, the vulnerability at the hands of mother nature along with its aftermath was something to behold. Produced by The Coven and distributed by IFC Midnight, We Need to Do Something gives us a taste of not only forces of nature and darkness that are beyond our humanity, but how a trapped family displays its dysfunction.

More details announced for Batgirl movie

The Batgirl film has been in development for several years, with Joss Whedon signing a deal to write and direct in 2017, and dropping out a year later. Batgirl does not have a release date, but Warners has previously indicated it will likely bow on HBO Max in 2023. We now have more details in this featurette released during DC FanDome. Review: Halloween Kills

Halloween Kills is a 2021 American slasher film directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride and Scott Teems. The film is a sequel to 2018’s Halloween and the twelfth installment in the Halloween franchise.

The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle, who reprise their roles as Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, with James Jude Courtney also portraying Myers again. Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, and Will Patton also reprise their roles from the previous film, with Anthony Michael Hall, Robert Longstreet and Thomas Mann joining the cast amongst ‘legacy’ cast members Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards and Nancy Stephens.
