Review: Matthew Bourne’s Edward Scissorhands
Written by Lewis Mainwaring
Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff – 12th March 2015
Matthew Bourne‘s adaptation of the classic Tim Burton motion picture is a choreographic masterpiece.
This touching love-story tells the bitter-sweet tale of a boy created with only scissors for hands, left alone in the world. Edward struggles to find his place in a strange new suburban world where the mostly well-meaning community struggle to see past his strange appearance to the innocence and gentleness within. This struggle is not shared by one girl who Edward falls in love with.
