Winners announced: 2021 British Academy Cymru Awards

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Wales, BAFTA Cymru, has announced the winners of the 30th British Academy Cymru Awards. The awards honour excellence in broadcasting and production within film and television in Wales and by the Welsh in UK productions, and serve to inspire the next generation of creative talent.

The 30th BAFTA Cymru Awards was hosted by Alex Jones, with 22 awards being presented throughout the evening. The ceremony was broadcast on BAFTA’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels and is available to watch here.

New Angel comic series from Boom Studios set for 2022 release

BOOM! Studios is set to publish a new Angel comic book series as part of their Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot line of comics.

The eight-issue comic book series will be written by current Iron Man comic writer, Christopher Cantwell, in collaboration with regular Boom artist Daniel Bayliss, colourist Patricio Delpeche and letterer Becca Carey.

Hayden Christensen joining Disney Plus Ahsoka series

Hayden Christensen will reprise the role of Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, in Ahsoka, the latest Star Wars live-action series from Lucasfilm and Disney+.

Rosario Dawson is starring as the fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Knight survivor popular The Clone Wars who made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian.

American actor Peter Scolari, has died aged 66 of cancer, after a two-year illness.

Doctor Who: Flux – episode 1 title announced

Doctor Who: Flux had already announced an airdate, with Jodie Whittaker’s new collection of adventures confirmed to be kicking off on Sunday 31st October.

Each of the six episodes will be scripted by Chris Chibnall, except episode four, which he’s co-written with Maxine Alderton. The series was split between two directors, with Jamie Magnus Stone (Spyfall, Ascension of The Cybermen, The Timeless Children) returning to the series alongside newcomer Azhur Saleem.

The title for the upcoming first instalment and a brief synopsis has been revealed, as anticipation reaches new highs ahead of the show’s return.

Ruby Rose alleges toxic behaviour on Batwoman set

Former Batwoman star Ruby Rose (they/she pronouns) has made a series of allegations about their time on the CW series on social media — including that they were forced off the show.

In an Instagram Story Rose shared on Wednesday, they claimed that rather than leaving the show of their own choice at the end of season one, Rose was forced off. The actor also said they were forced back to work just 10 days after a serious surgery and that working conditions on set were unsafe, resulting in serious injuries to crew members. Continue reading
