The Batgirl film has been in development for several years, with Joss Whedon signing a deal to write and direct in 2017, and dropping out a year later. Batgirl does not have a release date, but Warners has previously indicated it will likely bow on HBO Max in 2023. We now have more details in this featurette released during DC FanDome. Deadline are reporting that a new actress has been cast to play the DC hero ‘Supergirl’ in the upcoming ‘Flash‘ movie. This marks the first appearance of the charecter in DC’s Cinematic Universe although she does feature in The CW’s hit show ‘Supergirl’ (played by Mellissa Benoist). Chosen from over 425 actresses who auditioned, Daytime Emmy nominee Sasha Calle (The Young and the Restless) has scored the feature role as Supergirl. The Boston, MA born-Columbian actress will be first Latina Supergirl ever in DC’s history.
In a panel at DC FanDome further details were shared about the upcoming live-action DC movie ‘The Flash’. The panel featured film-makers Andy Muschietti (IT) and Barbara Muschietti along with the film’s star Ezra Miller and screenwriter Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Bumblebee).
Ezra Miller is ofcourse on board to star as Barry Allen, AKA, the Flash. And we got to see some concept images for his new suit.
