Director David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist: Believer was originally planned to be the first film in a planned trilogy from Blumhouse and Universal, part of a multi million dollar deal to bring the franchise back to life on the big screen with the sequel The Exorcist: Deceiver scheduled for release on April 18, 2025.
However THR reports this afternoon that David Gordon Green will no longer be directing The Exorcist: Deceiver, and that Universal and Blumhouse are actively seeking a new director.

Halloween Ends, directed by David Gordon Green and written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier is a sequel to 2021’s Halloween Kills and the thirteenth installment of the Halloween film franchise. Returning to score the film is franchise creator John Carpenter (with Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies also returning).
The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis and James Jude Courtney reprising their roles as Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and Omar Dorsey will reprise their roles as Laurie’s granddaughter, Allyson, Deputy Frank Hawkins, Lindsey Wallace, and Sheriff Barker.
Halloween Ends is set to release on October 14, 2022. It was initially set to release on October 15, 2021, before being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
