Director-writer David Lynch, who radicalised American film with with a dark, surrealistic artistic vision in films like Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive and network television with Twin Peaks, has died. He was 78.

He is best known for playing the Giant in Twin Peaks, Mr. Homn in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Lurch in the Addams Family films – among many other roles.
Standing at 7 ft tall, he often plays character and comedic roles in which height is a major part.

Twin Peaks co-creator David Lynch has confirmed that Kyle MacLachlan will return for the revived third season in 2016.
MacLachlan hinted (back in October) that he would be reprising his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper shortly after Lynch and Mark Frost announced that they will revive the show in 2016.
Lynch offered confirmation of MacLachlan’s involvement in the new season on twitter today (12th January).
