After 14 years, the Friday the 13th franchise is finally getting set to return to the small screen with “Crystal Lake,” an upcoming prequel series from A24, Peacock and Bryan Fuller (“Hannibal”) that’s miraculously able to use any and all existing elements from the franchise.
Peacock has order a Friday the 13th prequel series currently titled Crystal Lake Variety has learned.
Exact plot details are being kept under wraps, although it is described as an “expanded prequel.”
The show will be written by Bryan Fuller, who is also the showrunner and an executive producer. Victor Miller, who penned the original film in the franchise, will also executive produce along with Marc Toberoff, Rob Barsamian, and A24.
A24 will also serve as the studio behind the series. Continue reading
Screenwriter Victor Miller has won the appeal in the case for the rights to the Friday The 13th franchise, sending Sean Cunningham and Horror Inc. to defeat.
Friday the 13th actor Corey Feldman has claimed that the end of the Friday the 13th legal battle is imminent.
Feldman starred in Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter, as Tommy Jarvis, a 12-year-old boy who ends up killing Jason with a machete in the finale. An older version of Tommy would appear in the next two sequels, but with John Shepherd and Thom Mathews taking over the role.
As previously reported Paramount is releasing a new Friday the 13th: 8-Movie Blu-ray Collection on August 10, which features the first 8 films in the franchise and includes the newly remastered versions of the first four. On the same day, the original classic’s remaster is getting its own solo Blu-ray.
Paramount will also be releasing a Limited Edition Steelbook Version of the Friday the 13th: 8-Movie Blu-ray Collection on October 12, 2021.
Larry Zerner former actor (Shelly from Friday the 13th Part 3D) turned lawyer for the past several years has shared his legal expertise with fans on the ongoing, legal battle happening with the Friday the 13th franchise.
Today on his twitter Zerner shared an update on the ongoing legal battle.
Paramount will be re-releasing their Friday the 13th: 8-Movie Blu-ray Collection later this year;the set features newly remastered versions of the first four films in the franchise. Additionally it has been announced the original film ‘Friday The 13th‘ will be getting it’s own individual release featuring the same re-mastered version as the box set.

Friday the 13th producer Sean Cunningham has launched a new lawsuit over net profits from the horror franchise.
According to a complaint filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, the studios distributing the films have “systematically misaccounted” contingent compensation.
As previously reported Paramount is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th this year with a re-release in the form of a Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray + Digital, which had originally been set for release on May 5th, 2020.
Unfortunately the release has just been slightly extended over a month to June 16th, 2020.
Friday the 13th will be celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this may.
Sadly no new movies under the Friday the 13th umbrella can be made until the current legal situation is resolved, however that doesn’t mean Paramount isn’t celebrating the 40th anniversary of this iconic slasher franchise starter.
