LucasFilm announcements at D23 including Star Wars, Willow series and Indiana Jones 5

Disney’s annual showcase and fan event D23 Expo is in full swing, featuring updates from the worlds of Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, 20th Century and more. On Saturday, LucasFilm shared a glimpse of their future plans during the Studio Showcase. See details of some of the projects that were announced below:

The panel was opened by LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy who introduced the cast of Andor; Genevieve O’Reilly, Diego Luna, Kyle Soller and Adria Arjona.

A new trailer was released for the Disney Plus show, check it out below:

Next up is Willow with Warwick Davies and the cast taking the stage including Joanne Whalley, Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber and Tony Revolori.

It was also announced that Christian Slater will be joining the cast.

A new poster and trailer was also released, check it out below:

Next up is Dave Filoni talking about The Bad Batch. The second season of Disney+’s animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere January 4th 2023.

Animated anthology series Tales Of The Jedi, which includes three episodes about Ahsoka Tano. Tales Of The Jedi will stream 26 October on Disney+

Filoni is joined on stage with Jon Favreau to discuss the upcoming Ahsoka series.

Filoni says: “Rosario has been phenomenal. Every time she plays Ahsoka, she embodies the character more and more. Know that the people working on Star Wars love this stuff just as much as you do.”

Favreau talks about meeting Jon Watts on the Spider-Man movies and realising he loved Star Wars as much as he does. Watts and Chris Ford take to the stage and unveil a new image from the upcoming Skeleton Crew of Jude Law, who is also at the event.

The Mandalorian Season 3!

“It’s our great privilege to take you to this galaxy far, far away,” says Filoni.

The Mandalorian exec producer Rick Famuyiwa joins the guys on stage, plus cast members Emily Swallow, Katee Sackhoff, Amy Sedaris, Giancarlo Esposito, and Pedro Pascal.

“To describe the journey of being part of The Mandalorian is impossible,” says Pedro Pascal. “I get asked how I convey authority without taking off my helmet,” says Emily Swallow, who plays the armourer. “But I think I can do that *because* I never take off my helmet.”

“It’s an honour and utmost pleasure to be working with visionaries,” says Giancarlo Esposito. “If you’re here, you love Star Wars. It is the hero’s journey that matters. It’s a wonderful place to be, in the childlike wonder of this franchise.”

“I never dreamed that she would come to be this big a part of my life,” says Katee Sackhoff about her character Bo-Katan.

Director James Mangold joins Kathleen Kennedy on stage to discus the upcoming Indiana Jones 5.

“I’m among a Mount Rushmore of creative greats whilst making this movie,” says Mangold.

Harrison Ford returns to star in the latest installment of the franchise. James Mangold is directing with Steven Spielberg serving as a producer.

Mangold introduced Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge onto the stage as they showed a teaser trailer to the audience (sadly this was not released officially online).

Ford seems a little emotional as he talks about the upcoming film:

“These films are about adventure, but they’re also about heart. This is it! I will not fall down for you again!”
