HBO has cancelled the sysci-fi series Westworld after four seasons. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the show premiered on October 2, 2016. The show was co-produced by JJ Abrams ‘Bad Robot’.
The series, an adaptation of the 1973 Michael Crichton directed and written film, boasted nine Primetime Emmy wins during its run and 54 nomination, as well as a movie-star cast that included Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandiwe Newton, Tessa Thompson, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul among many others.
The shows creator Jonathan Nolan had spoken recently at New York Comic Con about the possibility of a fifth and final season, however, back in October was still in talks with the network.

Westworld’s debut on HBO in fall 2016 had the network’s highest viewership ratings for a premiere since the first episode of True Detective, in 2014. Westworld’s first season is the most-watched first season of any HBO original series. The series was critically acclaimed during its first season, highly praised for its performances, visuals, narrative, themes and Ramin Djawadi’s musical score. The series continues to receive mostly positive reviews, although certain elements of its story and characterisations have since come under criticism.
