Michael Keaton set to appear in HBO Max’s Batgirl

Warner Bros. Pictures has released an official 2022 movie preview kit featuring an updated cast list and synopsis for many of their movies, including the HBO Max original Batgirl.

The listing for the DC Comics adaptation has one major surprise in it, as it notes that Michael Keaton is slated to appear, seemingly reprising his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman from Tim Burton‘s Batman and the upcoming The Flash.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing Batgirl, from a script by Christina Hodson, the DC mainstay behind Birds of Prey and the upcoming The Flash. Kristin Burr is producing.

While plot details are under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

It is unknown at this point whether the movie is set in the same universe as Batman and Batman Returns, or if its set entirely in its own universe and Keaton’s Batman is just popping in from across space and time.

Leslie Grace, known for her breakout role in In the Heights, is joining the DC Universe as Barbara Gordon, AKA Batgirl. J. K. Simmons will reprise the role of classic Batman character Commissioner James Gordon.

Also set to feature in the film is Brendan Fraser as Garfield Lynns / Firefly: A sociopathic pyromaniac and Jacob Scipio in an undisclosed role.

Review: Hurt (2021)

Review by Paul Grammatico

Hurt: A Lengthy Labor of Halloween Havoc

Halloween is an interesting time that many people circle on their calendar. It is a time for letting loose, impersonating a fictions person or entity for a day, watching scary movies, giving out candy to the youngsters, or even going out with some friends to partake and participate in some Halloween-themed amusement park filled with haunted houses and sideshows. The parks were one of my favourites as it was fun to see my friends (and myself) receive various jump scares when various costumed ghouls would jump out at you from just about everywhere. Despite all the theatrical terror and menace, it was all in good fun. Hurt, a Halloween horror film provided by Zed Filmworks and distributed by Gravitas Ventures, provides a small-town Halloween fair that a soldier and his wife go back to as it was one of their regular haunts growing up. This time, however, the results are far different.
