Jamie Lee Curtis Set to Direct Horror Film For Blumhouse

Two time Golden Globe winning actress and filmmaker Jamie Lee Curtis and her Comet Pictures label have signed a three-year, first look deal with Blumhouse in both the film and TV arena, Deadline has reported.

Curtis, who has directed episodes of both Anything But Love and Scream Queens, is stepping back behind the camera for the feature horror project Mother Nature.

Purge 5 Release Put On Hold

‘Purge 5’ the latest chapter in Universal Pictures’ dystopian horror franchise, has been indefinitely delayed. The film, titled “The Forever Purge,” was set to release in theaters July 10 and has been pulled indefinitely from the studio’s release slate.

The Purge Cancelled By USA Network

USA Network has cancelled The Purge and Treadstone, two highly-visible series based on theatrical properties.

The Purge, based on the Blumhouse horror franchise of the same name, made it through two seasons, with its season two finale airing back in December. Treadstone, a spinoff from The Bourne Identity, is the latest attempt by USA parent company NBC Universal to extend the life of that franchise. It was cancelled after only one season.

The New Mutants Looks Set For VOD Release

The New Mutants is the last of the X-Men movies to be produced by 20th Century Fox to be released, following 2019’s Dark Phoenix. Disney’s purchase of Fox means that the X-Men characters are now able to be used in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and those characters may be recast or disregarded entirely in future movies featuring the X-men.
