12/04/15 Kevin Smith recently announced the long-awaited sequel to his 1995 comedy Mallrats; Mallrats 2 (also known as Mallrats 2: Die Hard in a Mall). This was first announced on 12th March 2015 via this cryptic tweet and later confirmed on one of Smith’s podcasts. https://twitter.com/thatkevinsmith/status/576163254717673472 This was originally pegged for filming in 2016….but has been steadily moved forward for various reasons and this will now be the next film smith shoots this summer; see more here. Casting AnnouncementsSmith has began to announce many original cast members will be reprising their roles; as confirmed by special ‘selfies’ they have taken to show their involvement in the project. Cast announced so far: Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Michael Rooker, Jeremy London, Renee Humphrey, Brian O’Hallaran, Scott Mosier, Bryan Johnson, Walt Flanagan, Joey Lauren Adams, Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee, Shannon Doherty, Claire Forlaini & Stan Lee.
Smith has said his script includes 18 returning characters as well as six new characters.

There have been a lot of casting announcements recently following the news that Kevin Smith would be making a sequel to his second film; Mallrats 2.
We were also told that production had been brought forward to 2015, after filming on his other major project Clerks III.
However, Smith announced today that Mallrats 2 has been pushed forward to shoot before Clerks III due to the availability of a disused mall location he wants for the film which is soon to be demolished.
Scottish production company Auld Reekie Media has released the second teaser trailer for their much anticipated biopic of writer/director KevinSmith titled ‘Shooting Clerks‘. The film will focus on the production of his 1994 debut hit film Clerks as well as looking into the events that preceded and followed it.

The film will focus on the production of his 1994 debut hit film Clerks as well as looking into the events that preceded and followed it.
The cast features actors portraying Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes & many other actors/others involved with the making of Clerks but interestingly also includes cameo and small-role appearances from many original Clerks cast members including Brian O’Hallaran, Marilyn Ghigliotti, Scott Schiaffo, Ernie O’Donnelland many others associated with Smith. Smith himself is expected to narrate the film.
Production was split between UK & US with principal photography taking place in Scotland while key locations were filmed by a 2nd Unit in and around New Jersey, USA. Funding for for film came from several crowd-funding campaigns as well as individual investors.

This release is well timed following the release of Smith’s horror/thriller Tusk, the announcement that the second sequel to Clerks, Clerks III will shoot this year and also amidst the news that Smith is putting together a sequel to his 1995 follow-up film Mallrats.
MacLachlan hinted (back in October) that he would be reprising his role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper shortly after Lynch and Mark Frost announced that they will revive the show in 2016.
