While we continue waiting for Nia DaCosta’s Candyman, currently set for theatrical release on August 27, 2021, we’ve learned that a brand-new Candyman franchise documentary is also on the way. Written and directed by Bryn Hammond, the documentary will explore the Tony Todd-starring movie franchise that was born out of Clive Barker‘s original story, “The Forbidden.”

DRAW WITH ME is a short documentary film by Constantine Venetopoulos created in partnership with The Trevor Project. The film follows the coming out journey of Brendon Scholl, a youth who identifies as Trans, and how their art became their outlet for self-expression. The film features Jennifer Lopez – Brendon’s aunt – in a special introduction, as well as President Elect Joe Biden.

The Last Blockbuster is a fun, nostalgic look back at the era of video rentals and the story of how one small town video store managed to outlast a corporate giant. Featuring interviews with comedians and celebrities with ties to Blockbuster including Adam Brody (“The O.C.”, Jennifer’s Body), Ione Skye (Say Anything, River’s Edge), Doug Benson (“Getting Doug with High”, The Lego Batman Movie), Paul Scheer (“The League”, “Veep”) and director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob), with narration by Lauren Lapkus (The Wrong Missy, “Orange Is The New Black”).

The documentary was filmed, directed & edited by Smith’s long-time behind-the-scenes documentarian and collaborator Josh Roush.

Review: Parkland Rising (2020)
A few years ago you may never have heard of Parkland or Emma Gonzalez. This changed forever on Valentines Day (February 14th) 2018, when a gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people and injuring 17 others. Witnesses identified the gunman as a 19-year-old former student at the school and the incident made headlines around the world. But perhaps, we still remember this incident in particular amongst a sad toll of similar incidents before and since thanks to the undeniably incredible political activism it has led to; led mostly by the surviving students and most notably student activist Emma Gonzalez who was instrumental in organising the March For Our Lives movement.
