Review: Doctor Who – Memories of a Tyrant
Review by Michael Goleniewski
“Memories of a Tyrant” begins a new trilogy of stories for the Sixth Doctor and Peri (Perpugilliam) Brown continuing with a return of the Daleks next month in “Emissary of the Daleks” and a meeting to come with Harry Houdini in “Harry Houdini’s War” in September. It’s a fantastic time in 2019 for one of Big Finish’s most prolific and popular Doctor / Companion teams and ‘Tyrant’ starts things off again in fascinating fashion.

Audio Review: Survivors (Series 9)
Review by Ian McArdell
In the five years since its audio resurrection, Survivors, based on Terry Nation’s 1970s BBC television show, has provided some of the most shocking and traumatic hours of audio drama I have ever heard. Set in the aftermath of a devastating contagion, the show follows those who survived in their attempts to forge a new life, to re-learn the basics and work together in order to stay alive.

Review: Torchwood – Sargasso
Review by Jacob Licklider
Sargasso is my first foray into Big Finish’s Torchwood range and aptly it is a story told from the perspective of the often audience surrogate Rhys Williams. Kai Owen on Torchwood was always; in my opinion, an under-utilised character until the Children of Earth miniseries; so it is fitting that Big Finish gives the character time to shine. Sargasso is also the final release in the “Torchwood vs. Monsters” miniseries, pairing the Torchwood characters with monsters from Doctor Who, this time being the Nestene Consciousness. The Nestene Consciousness is a villain which has been under-utilised on audio, only featuring in the first UNIT box set and a single Eighth Doctor Adventure. Even on television, they have never been used to comment fully on the danger of plastics and pollutions; something rectified here. Christopher Cooper’s script uses the setting of a cargo ship in the middle of the ocean surrounded by plastic pollution. Cooper uses the isolated setting to full effect, creating a horror story with the Autons.
Sixth Doctor’s Adventures to get Blu-ray Release

Review: Doctor Who – An Alien Werewolf In London
Review by Michael Goleniewski
‘Alien Werewolf in London’ concludes the Seventh Doctor / Mags trilogy started by ‘Monsters of Gokroth’ and continued in ‘Moons of Vulpana‘ with the pair reunited with Ace in the punk era London of the 1990’s. She’s called the Doctor about a strange estate nearby that has had an odd and rather terrified creature in confinement for a very long time. There is of course a bigger secret surrounding the inhabitants of the mansion itself who all have a nasty little blood-sucking secret hiding behind their perfect exteriors. But the question is: who is the real threat and who is the biggest monster here?
Review: Doctor Who – The Moons of Vulpana (Another Take)
Review by Matt Charlton
Emma Reeves is fast making a name for herself amongst Big Finish listeners. Her blistering debut Forgotten Lives was a powerfully successful entry into Torchwood’s monthly range, and now she tackles the Seventh Doctor’s era. “The Moons of Vulpana” continues the return of Mags, the werewolf from 1988’s “The Greatest Show in the Galaxy”. Here, the Doctor and Mags are visiting her home planet, Vulpana, in an effort to help find a solution to control Mags’ werewolf urges. Ruled by the Four Great Wolf Packs, this earlier Vulpana is based around an aristocratic society, even down to the hunts for sport.
