Interview with Yee Jee Tso (Doctor Who TV Movie)

2We spoke with actor Yee Jee Tso known for his role as ‘Chang Lee’ in the Doctor Who Telemovie (1996).

“Making movies is awesome!”

What inspired you to become an actor?
I kind of fell into my first couple of gigs actually, by luck. On the 2nd occasion, filming was on location at an abandoned railway tunnel. The entire cast was dressed in 1890s period attire, and the set was decorated with historical accuracy as a coolie camp. “Coolie” was the term used for Chinese immigrant railway workers. I was sitting on an “apple box” and directly in front of me was the camera crane in all its technological glory and coolness, set against the historic backdrop in a surreal juxtaposition. That moment was when I got hooked. “Making movies is awesome!” I thought (or something to that effect). Continue reading

London Comic Con on a Shoestring Budget

Guest Reporter Doctor Squee from Gallifrey Stands Podcast.

Check out our Main Report from the event here.

I have never been to a really big comic con before. I have been to local events, signings and a few bigger gatherings, but I’ve always want to go to an international event.

So when my friends at Indie Mac User, Ben & Lewis, who had planned to go to London Film & Comic-con for the whole weekend, realised they couldn’t go on the Friday and they gave & my son the tickets for that day I was made up. (Tickets for Friday usually a very reasonable £12 each)

What inspired you to become an actor?

reese in Fresno 2R.M – I was a very introverted child and spent a lot of time watching movies and playing video games. The fictional and far away lives of people so distanced from me or anything I knew, I found fascinating. They took  me to places like nothing else seemed to do. I wanted the opportunity to live in those distant worlds and experience difference walks of consciousness. Being an actor seemed like the most logical method for obtaining these experiences. And then I got older and watched Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot and  I was sold on acting as a career.

What’s a Podcast? (IndieGoGo Campaign)

What’s a Podcast? – A Documentary Film is a brand-new project from 1st time film-maker but long-time podcaster Scott Holden.

Whats%20a%20Podcast%20logo%2001“What IS a Podcast? Podcasting is a new digital communications medium that
is not only changing the way people consume media, it is changing peoples lives.
Through my journey, I have met fellow podcasters, and listeners, whom I now call friends. The inspiration and comfort this medium gives to so many is a story that hasn’t yet received the attention it deserves.

This film is not just about my journey. Its the journey of the many podcasters, and listeners, friends and family, and how this medium is changing, helping, and even saving peoples lives, let alone building communities. The world is now at everyone’s fingertips and podcasters are the pioneers of a new digital age and medium.”

You can expect the film to include interviews with podcasters from around the world and from the largest to the smallest shows as well as fans and supporters of the medium.

Independant film legend Robert ‘Bob’ Hawk (Clerks, Chasing Amy) is on-board as Consulting Producer and David Madison(Mr Hush, Middle Village) is signed on as Director of Photography.

The film-makers are currently running and IndieGoGo campaign to help raise $15,000 dollars in additional funding with perks starting at $5 and up. Please give generously and help support indie film.

DVD Review: Kill Zone (2012)

Writer/Director Micha Webley brings us a moving and thought-proving film for the  post-iraq world where many soldiers are returning to society suffering from PTSD and struggling to settle back in to ‘normal’ life. Released on DVD in the the UK by 101 Films.

The film stars  Chadwick Boseman (Marvel’s Black Panther), Tory Kittles (True Detective), Billy Zane ( & Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction)

Some may draw parallels between this film and Scorsese’s Taxi Driver; but the central character here is at-least one step removed from Travis Bickle. You could see it as a re-imagining for modern times but it’s effective in it’s own right none the less. Continue reading
