What’s a Podcast? (IndieGoGo Campaign)

What’s a Podcast? – A Documentary Film is a brand-new project from 1st time film-maker but long-time podcaster Scott Holden.

Whats%20a%20Podcast%20logo%2001“What IS a Podcast? Podcasting is a new digital communications medium that
is not only changing the way people consume media, it is changing peoples lives.
Through my journey, I have met fellow podcasters, and listeners, whom I now call friends. The inspiration and comfort this medium gives to so many is a story that hasn’t yet received the attention it deserves.

This film is not just about my journey. Its the journey of the many podcasters, and listeners, friends and family, and how this medium is changing, helping, and even saving peoples lives, let alone building communities. The world is now at everyone’s fingertips and podcasters are the pioneers of a new digital age and medium.”

You can expect the film to include interviews with podcasters from around the world and from the largest to the smallest shows as well as fans and supporters of the medium.

Independant film legend Robert ‘Bob’ Hawk (Clerks, Chasing Amy) is on-board as Consulting Producer and David Madison(Mr Hush, Middle Village) is signed on as Director of Photography.

The film-makers are currently running and IndieGoGo campaign to help raise $15,000 dollars in additional funding with perks starting at $5 and up. Please give generously and help support indie film.

Horror Month: Interview with Penelope Sudrow (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3)

Horror Month – June 2015

IMG_0492We recently spoke to Penelope Sudrow who is best known for her role as Freddy Krueger victim Jennifer in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3.

“I am truly grateful and blessed to be a part of this film Nightmare On Elm St III”

IMG_0490What was your experiences like working on A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) Well, there were a lot of experiences working on nightmare. From the first thing I did was go down to the special effects warehouse and get a full body plaster from head to toe.

That was interesting & I can remember it like yesterday for some reason.

Other than that, for me, it was very much a job. I started working professionally in show business at age 6.

By the time I got Nightmare, I was actually getting a little burned out (pardon the pun, gee I just realized the irony of that comment considering what my character does to herself to stay awake…Hmmm).

Also, because it was a low budget film, there was not a lot of hanging around time as there can be on bigger budget sets. On a lower budget, you just cannot afford to waste time, so I just remember going to the set, doing my job and going home. I lived very close to where we filmed too. Most of the interior shots of the hospital were filmed at the VA hospital in Brentwood where I lived & was raised. Also, in spite of the fact that I grew up in show business, i was actually pretty shy, so i just kind of stayed to myself at that time mostly. Continue reading

Horror Month: Our Horror Reviews

Horror Month – June 2015
To celebrate Horror Month on IndieMacUser, here is a selection of our previous horror reviews.

Unfriended (2015)

MV5BMTUwNzg3Mzg1OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMDY2NTAwNDE@._V1_SX640_SY720_Unfriended (originally released in 2014 as Cyber-natural at the Fantasia Festival) is a ‘found footage’ supernatural horror film directed by Levan Gabriadze, written by Nelson Greaves, and produced by Timur Bekmambetov, Jason Blum, and Greaves.

“This film is a very unique of the found footage genre; however due to the computer screen aspect of the film I personally couldn’t connect with the characters. I feel that this due lack of character development in the script not the performance. I would still recommend people to see it and I do believe that this film will eventually become a cult favourite like the Blair Witch project.” 3/5 Continue reading

The story of ‘Shooting Clerks (Kevin Smith Biopic) – A Thank-You’

Written by Benjamin Gummery

We spend a lot of time on this blog talking about other people’s projects; however this post is about a personal passion project of mine.

shootingclerksI was really inspired by Scottish Indie film-makers AuldReekieMedia (namely director Christopher Downie & producer Brett Murray who started making YouTube shorts based on works, life & times of writer/director Kevin Smith. Smith is probably my favourite director of all time…I have always loved listening to his Q&As, podcasts and commentary tracks; especially the stories behind making such cult films as Clerks.  But now…these guys are bringing these stories to life in film in such an accurate and respectful way.

kevinsmith_micI even started off the blog properly with my first major article which featured Auld Reekie Media; ‘Kevin Smith, Podcasts & the power of Fandom’ so it has been part of the journey of the blog all along. I pick up their story later on with the release of the trailer for ‘Shooting Clerks’; a feature-length biopic of Kevin Smith focussing on the production of the film Clerks, a story I have always loved.

This led me to thinking how I could practically help out the project further with the resources at my disposal. I had already made contact with some of the original Clerks cast members for interviews and I knew a few other people from the project so putting together some kind of long-distance video project seemed feasible. This led to the idea of ‘Shooting Clerks (Kevin Smith Biopic) – A Thank-You’.

The Death Of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? (2015)

tdoslwh_posterThe Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? is the long-awaited documentary from director Jon Schnepp which will delve into the infamous canned Superman movie project which initially had writer Kevin Smith & director Tim Burton attached. Nicholas Cage was cast as Superman; and there is even footage of the screen tests he did in costume for this film however after under-going several rewrites and delays the project rested in studio development hell.

According to the film-makers the documentary will cover everything ever made for this film, interviews with people who were involved (including Smith, Burton & producer Jon Peters) and even recreations of scenes from the original script. The funds for this documentary were raised through a successful crowd-funding campaign as well as from individual investors. A poster and final trailer was released this week.
