Review: ‘You’re Gonna Die Tonight’ (Short – 2016)

Blended with a twisted sense of justice and a wicked narrative style that makes you change your stance on who is just and who is scum, comes the cat and mouse thriller short film from filmmaker Sergio Morceillo entitled “You’re Gonna Die Tonight” written by Alvaro Fuentes. Opening with little to no exposition to help the viewer understand a woman (Mónica Aragón) arriving at a home from a long night of wild, naughty and nasty fun. Barely standing, she is a product of lust, boozes and attitude by her own rules. With flashes of a sex/fetish club engulfing her pleasuring activities in the bathtub, her climax is disturbed by cell phone calls from a stranger who has eyes on what she is doing and how her threats are hollow as they pronounce to her “You’re Gonna Die Tonight”. As she emerges from the bathroom, the game intensifies with the killer who has entered her house and now is on the hunt for her. With each moment that goes by, the woman must defend her life and also understand the nature of the killer and his motive on why she has been targeted. ‘A Dozen Summers’ being released on DVD

From British writer/director Kenton Hall; ‘A Dozen Summers‘ is described as two 12 year old girls who hi-jack a movie and turn it into a story about their lives. This is an interesting concept in and of itself but also consider the lead roles are played by Hall’s own daughters Scarlet & Hero Hall and Kenton himself plays their father in the film.The film starts with some wonderfully hilarious voice-over from Colin Baker (of Doctor Who fame) which sets the comedy bar high. Through-out there are ‘various fourth-wall moments’ and references to the many tropes and devices used by film-makers.

4/5 – ‘Bold, Hopeful British indie comedy/drama at it’s best’

Review: A Tricky Treat (2015)

The true reflections of the choices we make, the pleasures we are a part of and the terror of what the consequences may be with “Ceramic Tango” or the power of demons we carry and the aspects of life that we loose and have to cope with till end with “Serpent’s Lullaby”.

The 35 time film and television award winning creator continues to make a difference with film, art and the power to invoke. This was no different with the twisted and dark humour tale of justice, frights and irony in “A Tricky Treat”. Conceived originally as a segment of the 2015 “Blood Donation” PSA for the “Women in Horror” Movement, the tale originally called “Ripe N’ Bloody”, the short film packs a twisted message but overall it is three minutes of pure Halloween fun! Review: The Summer House (2014)

From writer/director Curtis Burz; The Summer House is a story about friendship and family but is far more taboo than those normally told on screen and it’s both gripping and intriguing in the way that many European drama’s can be with just a touch of grit to it’s realism.

The film stars Sten Jacobs, Anna Altmann and Jaspar Fuld.

The Larsens are a picture perfect family from the German upper-middle class. They have everything that means comfort and should mean happiness. Business success, a stylish, light-flooded home and a full scholarship for their daughter to study in England. However, the head of the family, Markus (Sten Jacobs), an architect, lives a secret, bisexual double life as his wife Christine (Anna Altmann) and their eleven-year-old daughter Elisabeth (Nina Splettstößer) drown in unendurable loneliness. Markus realizes that he has a strong yearning for one of his daughter’s school friends, Johannes, 12, also the son of his tax penalty-bedeviled business partner, Christopher (Stephan Bürgi).
