River Song to appear in Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Exciting news for Whovians from the BBC today!

They have announced that the popular established time-line travelling character of Professor River Song (played by Alex Kingston) will be returning to the series for an appearance in the Series 9 Christmas Special.

“To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special. Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humour and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday’s read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. ‘New Who’ 10th Anniversary

Written by Lewis Mainwaring

When Doctor Who came back to our TV screens in 2005 both audiences and critics were wowed as it ushered in a new era of time and space antics.

Russell T Davies was the mastermind behind the shows reintroduction and turned the programme from ‘a bit of a joke’ into TV gold over-night following a 16 year gap (not including the TV movie).

The casting of Christopher Eccleston as as the post time war doctor and Billie Piper as his companion was great casting and started the show off with a bang. Continue reading

Podcasters – What, How & Why?

podcast1The podcasting medium is now as popular and visible as ever; in-part thanks to big-name podcasters such as Kevin Smith, Adam Carolla, Marc Maron & Leo Laporte. However the majority of podcasts are started in obscurity by people with no previous media/radio experience. So why do people do it?

We talked to a group of podcasters from around the world and asked them what their show is, how they created it and why they do it.

In poker they say all you need is a chip & a chair to play. Well I learned in podcasting all you need is a laptop & a mic…”
Doctor Squee’ (Gallifrey Stands)

“I’ve always believed that podcasting needs the content to attract a listener and then loads of personality, truth and storytelling to keep them listening.”
Jason (7 Days A Geek)

“I love podcasting. I love everything about it. It is such a great medium. It takes work and dedication to build an audience but anyone with passion and motivation can create a successful podcast” –
Scott Holden (ThatmanOnFatman)

Interview: Daphne Ashbrook

Written by Lewis Mainwaring

Daphne Ashbrook is known for both her comic timing and deeply complex emotional portrayals on both the big and small screen. One of her best known roles (and my personal favourite) is that of Dr Grace Holloway in the Doctor Who TV Movie (1996). We recently caught up with her for an interview about her life both on and off screen.

This article received a really great response worldwide and even led to a guest appearance on Kevin Smith ‘fan podcast’ ThatmanOnFatman. Continue reading
