New ‘The Mummy’ movie coming from Blumhouse and ‘Evil Dead Rise’ director

Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) is writing and directing a new take on ‘The Mummy’, it has been announced today. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, along with Cronin’s company ‘Doppelgängers’, are producing.The project was previously only known as a Cronin mystery movie that had been announced earlier this year and is now set for an April 17, 2026 release.

“This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before,”

he said in a statement to THR.

“I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening,”

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are co-financing the film. Producing are James Wan, Jason Blum and John Keville. Executive producing are Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Macdara Kelleher. Alayna Glasthal is the executive overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.

Evil Dead Rise set for a theatrical release in 2023

Evil Dead Rise will be released on the big screen on April 21, 2023. The fifth installment of The Evil Dead franchise was set to premiere on HBO Max this year.

The news comes in the aftermath of big change over at Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO Max, which has saw the cancellation of many projects including Batgirl and Batman: Caped Crusader.
